APPENDIX C

 A Selection of C. W. Reed’s Post-Battle Drawings

During the battle of Gettysburg, Reed only made the one drawing showing Dan Sickles 3rd Corp headquarters beneath a large tree near the Trostle barn. He went on to participate in the battles of The Wilderness and Siege of Petersburg before being transferred to the Engineers serving as a topographer under Brig. Gen. Gouverneur K. Warren. After the war, he conducted a successful illustration career, and returned to Gettysburg to document the heroics of Bigelow’s battery. This appendix contains a sampling of his post-battle drawings.
